Sketchbook Assignment #1

Aaron Ruell

Part 1:
This artwork is of three children at different stages in their life but they all have one thing in common: They are athletes. The color behind each one relates to what the other is wearing, their jerseys are simple, yet it looks as though they are worn out. They are wearing high socks, but not appropriate sports shoes. The lighting around everyone is fairly strong and equal, there is a bigger F-stop, and a medium shutter speed. I think the picture was made in the children school in the athletic area. I think Aaron is trying to show the viewer that sports is a commitment in a child's life and that it is a major part of their life. Sports is lacking in America, and this picture is trying to show us that we should encourage our students to be more active.

This is a photograph of a young adult in a foyer area. There is a light blue wall,  blood red rug, and outfit and the white divan as well as vase. There are scattered colors on the wall in between the books and the shelves. The lighting is pretty strong and evenly dispersed. The woman standing to the left of the divan offsets the pictures balance. The picture looks as though it was taken in someones house, or in a less formal waiting room. The picture is showing the organization people have within their home, but the scattered books, which are not organized, show the disorganization in a home, and that there is never total control in an area.

The photo is of a man in a room sitting. He is looking up to the left corner toward the three ducks flying away. The back wall is wooden, and the man is sitting on red vinyl seats. The red from the seats is very subtle, and what I really focus on is the biggest duck in the left corner. The mans tie is striped, but your eyes are not drawn to it. The lighting is very soft but present. I think this picture was taken in a waiting room, where he is contemplating his life which is what the ducks symbolize.
